Standing Up for What’s Right
We at DCReport recently came across a very powerful post on LinkedIn from Jon Macaskill, a retired Navy SEAL Commander. He spoke his mind on the recent firing of General CQ Brown from his role as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. We run it here with Mr. Macaskill’s permission.
I’ve bitten my tongue long enough.
I know politics doesn’t belong on LinkedIn. I get it.
But this… this isn’t about politics.
It’s about leadership.
It’s about integrity.
It’s about the men and women who serve this country and the trust they place in their leaders… uniformed and civilian.
Firing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General CQ Brown, along with other senior military leaders in the JCS in an unprecedented Pentagon purge.
That’s not leadership. That’s chaos. That’s instability at the highest levels of our armed forces at a time when we need strength, unity, and professionalism more than ever.
I cannot support this. And I will not stay silent about it.
For those who don’t know, the CJCS is not a political position. The role exists to provide independent military advice, NOT to be a yes-man to ANY administration.
To remove a sitting chairman… just months into his tenure… for what appears to be political reasons?
That undermines the very foundation of military professionalism and the trust that our service members place in the system.
I wore the uniform for over two decades. I served under leaders I respected, and I served under leaders I disagreed with. But the one thing that remained constant was a belief that our military was above political games.
What’s happening right now shakes that belief to its core.
I know this post may cost me followers. It may ruffle feathers. So be it. Some things are bigger than algorithms and brand-building.
To ALL those who’ve served… past and present… I see you.
I stand with you. And I will continue to speak up when leadership decisions put our country’s security and stability at risk.
Now go. And stand for what’s right.
