White House Plans to Gut Obama’s ‘Clean Power’ Effort and Allow More Smog at the Grand Canyon

Obama’s plan to curb global warming. Scott Pruitt, named by Trump to run the Environmental Protection Agency, said on ABC’s “This Week” that the order will unravel Obama’s Clean Power Plan. Pruitt, the former Oklahoma attorney general, was one of the Republican attorney generals who sued to block the plan from being implemented.
Grand Canyon Smog. Trump’s EPA has already deep-sixed a federal pollution reduction plan at the coal-burning Cholla Power Plant in Arizona that was supposed to remedy pollution at the Grand Canyon and the Petrified Forest. E&E News reports that the agreement does call for the plant to eventually stop burning coal at two of its three remaining generating units.
Roundup Redo. Trump’s Agriculture Department has dropped a plan to test food for residues of glyphosate, the world’s most widely used weed killer, EcoWatch reports. The herbicide is a key ingredient in Roundup, made by Monsanto. The USDA had planned to start testing samples of corn syrup on April 1 for glyphosate residues. Monsanto is being sued by hundreds of people who claim Roundup caused non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Shocked! Shocked! The federal agency asked to look at the ethics of whether Trump could lease a Washington, D.C., hotel from the government while he is president says everything is just fine. The General Services Administration said the Trump Organization is in “full compliance.”
