Vice President Kamala Harris has picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the upcoming presidential election.
Walz is a military veteran who served as a teacher and high school football coach in addition to his six years as governor. He also served six terms as a congressman. Many of his views are deemed as traditionally liberal as opposed to further progressive, which many Republicans suggest in Harris.
Walz most notably has signed a bill to grant free meals to all students in participating schools — Minnesota being just one of just eight states to do so — signed a public safety bill to regulate gun control that puts into legal effect universal background checks and red-flag laws, and also signed the House File 100 to legalize recreational cannabis.
