How Their Lies Have Dehumanized Millions of the Faithful
By now, you are aware of the Dominion/Fox News defamation case. You know about the depositions, the emails, and the text messages that clearly showed the hosts of Fox News lied repeatedly over the course of months.
They lied about Dominion and they lied about SmartMatic. They permitted hired liars Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell and others to come on their shows repeatedly and lie about the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election.
And you know about Fox leadership: all the way up to the top of the dung heap known as Fox, Chairman Rupert Murdoch permitted the lies, allowing the network hosts — Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and the whole clown posse — to bring these paid liars on-the-air over and over, lying their asses off in an attempt to convince the world the election had been stolen.
It was not.
The election of 2020 was not stolen, but it was lied about a helluva lot.
A lot of people were hurt by the lies spouted about for months on Fox News. To begin with, the good people who work at Dominion and SmartMatic have been harmed, and that is why they brought suit. While no amount of money can make them whole again, it can help with some of the damage done by the incessant lies of Fox News.
To date, more than one-thousand American citizens have been arrested in conjunction with the attack on our nation’s capital on January 6, 2021. Many are already in jail, and the Department of Justice has let it be known that there may be as many as another thousand people still to be charged. Those people acted on those lies — the lies told by Trump, Giuliani, and Fox. Their lives, and the lives of their families, have been harmed by the lies of all these cretins. While I think they deserve their prison sentences for the harm they caused, I also think each of these folks — who acted on the lies they were told — may have a case for civil damages against those who lied.
But there is one group that was lied to that no one is considering: the viewers of Fox News.
Fox News has the largest number of daily cable news subscribers in the nation, and those people — all 2 million viewers — were lied to by the Fox News hosts.
Fox News lied to America, but what is really, truly sick is that Fox News lied to its own people, its own viewers, those millions of Americans who have spent years watching and listening to Fox News religiously.
The Fox News faithful.
And I think this is beyond greed: this is truly evil. It’s like a husband telling his wife he’s going to work at a charity event while in truth he is cheating on her with a woman named Charity. There is something truly demented about a person who does that to someone, but when a company does it, it is clear that the entire place is full of maggots and lice: there is nothing good in the heart of the people at Fox.
Lately, I’ve been reading an incredibly powerful book by Isabel Wilkerson called Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. We all would be fortunate to have a teacher such as Isabel Wilkerson, for what she says has great value, and we have so much to learn.
In the book, Ms. Wilkerson defines pillars of the caste system developed and employed throughout the history of the United States. When I got to pillar number six, Dehumanization and Stigma, I could feel the evil oozing from the wounds left by the Fox News lies. I could sense how Fox News and their hosts of liars have used dehumanization to pit their own fans against the world.
“Dehumanization is…a war against truth…it does not happen by accident.”
“It is harder to dehumanize a single individual that you have gotten the chance to know. Which is why people and groups who seek power and division do not bother with dehumanizing an individual. Better…an entire group.”
“Dehumanize the group, and you have…programmed everyone, even some of the targets of dehumanization, to no longer believe what their eyes can see, to know longer trust their own thoughts.”
“It [dehumanization] makes slaves to groupthink of everyone….”
Fox News dehumanized its own viewers, lying to them repeatedly, setting them against their own families and friends for their own twisted benefit.
I’m not the first person to see the similarities of Trump’s lunacy to the classic absurdity described in George Orwell’s 1984, but I am probably the first to see how the lies of Fox News have hurt their own fans deeper than probably anyone else. It is those fans who have been lied to for years, who have broken off relationships with family and friends over their belief in what they were being told: lies, every day, by Fox News.
Those on Fox should be taken off the air: their evil propaganda has wrecked hatred and havoc long enough on these people, causing them to live in a state of fear and loathing. These mind-bending savages who like to think of themselves as cable-TV hosts are really nothing better than slave masters of the old South beating the humanity out of their victims.
“No one has more contempt for conservative audiences than conservative media and conservative politicians.”
What Fox News did was to lie to its own, and those lies have caused deep, irreparable harm to them and the nation at large. Suing Fox will never repair the damage done to the families, friendships, and communities of their viewers. No amount of money could ever restore trust in their government now that the frauds of Fox have brainwashed them with poison and lies.
Fox News must end.
Those who have used Fox to tell lies will face their karma: it’s coming for Giuliani, for Powell, and for Pillow Guy Mike Lindell. The lawsuits they now face will destroy careers they spent lifetimes building. They deserve to be left to the poor house for what they’ve done.
The other one, The Great Liar — because he is good at/or for nothing else — Donald Trump, is soon to get his comeuppance as well. Maybe not in civil court, although I certainly would enjoy watching him lose everything, including his prized Mar-A-Lago. No, Trump is about to face down a gauntlet of criminal charges of which there is no escape: Trump is finally going to meet justice, and justice will not be kind to Mr. Trump.
He deserves every punishment that may befall him.
When I think about the country and how it is so divided, it is clear to me that Fox News has played a historic role in spreading lies, fear, anger, and deep resentment in every corner of the land. And that is sad, because it all could have been avoided. We have far too many people in this country who have had no real education: most of what our people have learned came from ignorant parents who never knew the truth about America either. Our history books have been watered down for decades, and we now have a new batch of liars trying to ban books altogether. None of that will improve our nation or the lives of the people.
Spawning ignorance and hatred is not the prime directive of the fourth estate: to report objectively is a requirement of the free press, and Fox News has never followed any rules but their own. In doing so, their lies and their deception have caused great harm to America.
It is time we said goodbye to Mr. Murdoch: it is time we deport his lying and crooked ass out of here. And the Fox News hosts can go with him if they’d like: we no longer require their services either.
America has much work to do. The lies of Fox News only holds us back from the promise of what we can be.
Honest with each other.
