Hi! I’m Sabreen Dawud, one of The 19th’s reporting fellows. I’ve most recently served as a freelance writer for AFRO-American Newspapers covering social and cultural issues, and editor-in-chief of Six Eleven Magazine, a Black-owned arts magazine. At The 19th, I work alongside The 19th’s reporters and editors to develop editorial content for our distribution channels. With the opportunity to embody The 19th’s mission, I take part in creating news that represents groups of varying backgrounds and highlight the experiences of women, LGBTQ+ people and other marginalized communities. Writing with purpose has always been a core aspect of my work as a journalist, and I am looking forward to sharing meaningful stories. I’m a Howard University alumna with a bachelor’s degree in media, journalism and film communications and a minor in English. I have a deep love for reading, writing, travel and the arts!
